Don Luis Orione was a priest of God and everything all of the
men. He
dedicated his entire life to love and serve the Lord in the most humble,
the poor and dispossessed. "Only charity will save the world"
was the conviction that marked his life, a charity urgently needed to
"fill the furrows that hatred and selfishness have opened in the
earth." This conviction led him to found the Little Work of Divine
Providence (1903), congregation that amplified her native Italy and in
mission territories, including Argentina. Don Orione first visited our
country between 1921 and 1922, when it founded the community orionita
Victoria (Buenos Aires).

In 1934 he returned to Argentina for three years and develops a tireless
task apostolic ministry and social. In 1935 he founded the Little
Cottolengo in Claypole and Argentine society and recognizes him as the
"apostle of charity." The admiration and affection that
awakens her figure is matched by the deep love that Don Orione feel
toward our country and its people: "Love the Lord Argentina,
because Argentina loves your poor". The mutual love between Don
Orione and the Argentine people translates into innumerable gestures of
kindness and solidarity that the same Don Orione and theirs turned into
works for children, youth and the weakest in our homeland. The message
from Don Orione is an invitation to look reality in order to transform
it to charity. A charity that is not as palliative care, but as
promotion of justice, human dignity and salvation of man and integrated
society.
"We have to be saints, but not such that our holiness belongs only
to the worship of the faithful or is only in the Church but that
transcends and projected onto society both splendor of light, so life of
love for God and the men most to be saints of the church we are saints
of the people and social salvation, "said Don Orione. Today, his
works and his message reaffirming the validity of testimony that follows
announcing that life is only when such shares jointly with others,
especially those most needy and abandoned, as it "shines the image
of God."
